The 2015 Shanghai Motor Show showcased a number of car concepts, with one of the amazing concepts coming from Honda. During the expo, the Japanese automobile manufacturer announced that its new prototype- Honda D Concept- will suit many needs of car users when it becomes a production model.
Honda D Concept – Fresh New Look Promised:
The new mid-size SUV is expected to be built on the CR-V platform. The CR-V model has a lighter and stiffer body, so if the new car is based on this platform, we expect it to come with the same kind of body. The car will be sportier than the CRV, with pronounced overtures and curves all over its body.
In the front end of the Honda D Concept, there is a slat grille integrated well with the headlights. The same end spots wider air intakes and DRLs. When it comes to the rear end, the car will have a magnificent tailgate and large taillights. Looking the car on the sides, you will see 19-inch alloy wheels and sharply-raked windows.
Concerning the interior of the new Honda D Concept, there will be a beautiful color scheme, classy materials and sporty cabin components in the Honda D Concept. The production model will feature leather in the seats & steering wheel and aluminum & carbon fiber in the body panels. The cabin is designed to accommodate 5 passengers and a good amount of luggage. On the side of technology, the Honda crossover will have a large touchscreen in the center console and a refurbished instrument panel near the steering wheel. The car will get additional tech features such as a heating & cooling system, Bluetooth, a premium sound system, Smartphone integration, a satellite navigation system, USB ports, and Wi-Fi.
Honda D Concept – Engine Offerings:
Under the hood of Honda D Concept, there will be a 2.4-liter engine which is capable of generating 185 hp and 181 lb-ft. The best thing about this engine is that it comes with features such as direct fuel injection system, R+ mechanism, and Earth Dreams Technology. These inclusions are made to improve fuel efficiency and lower pollution rates.
Concerning the transmission system, the drivetrain will be paired with a 6-speed automatic system which will transmit power to the rear wheels. As for the speed, the vehicle will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds and achieve a top speed of 125 mph. The fuel economy will be improved by the above-mentioned features. The vehicle will record 26 mpg in cities and 33 mpg on highways.
Safety and Security:
Honda will not leave anything when it comes to the safety and security of the new car. The automaker will fit it with all sorts of protection features, including airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, seatbelts, lane keep assist, rearview camera, ABS, adaptive cruise control and security alarms.
