When the CEOs of Jeep and Fiat Chrysler released information about a new model of this American icon at the Detroit Auto Show, the news was met with ecstatic reactions among car enthusiasts. The new model will be built at the manufacturer’s plant in Toledo, Ohio along with the future generation Wrangler. Though the previous model had incredible sales figures and didn’t seem to need a retouch, the manufacturers state that there are more than a few features that set the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited aside from the rest.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited – Design Updates:
The interior has been artfully designed to lend it a sharp attractiveness. Driver position is set a little higher to increase visibility. It will be able to accommodate up to five people which are an increase from previous models. Sitting at the center of the dashboard is a widescreen display connected to an intelligent navigation system. Additional features are; heated power mirrors, keyless ignition system, heated front seats and a satellite radio.
The manufacturer has endeavored to replace the steel body frame with one made up of aluminum and carbon to reduce the overall weight without compromising structural integrity. The lights, front and rear bumper and grille are also new. There have been rumors about a tire inflation system that allows users to inflate and deflate the tires though this has not been confirmed.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited – A Few Words About Engine:
The 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will be powered by a 3.6-liter diesel V6 engine that generates up to 285 hp. The top speed is rated at 114 mph and the new model does 0-60 in 6.9 seconds which is slightly faster than the outgoing model. Towing capacity has been boosted to 3,500 pounds. The EPA has rated the fuel consumption at 17 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited – Release Date, Price, and Rivals:
Reports from the manufacturer`s Toledo factory where the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is being built indicate that we can expect the car to hit the market towards the end of the year. Given that the market demand for the car outweighs supply and the increased usage of aluminum, the overall price could be somewhere near the $28,000 mark.
The 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited may have set itself apart from other midsize SUVs but it will still face some stiff competition from other members of its class including; Subaru Forester, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Nissan Xterra.
Not many modern cars share the Wrangler`s iconic status and therefore, such a major redesign is met with a blend of excitement and skepticism. The manufacturer`s fans will want to find out if the overhauled design comes along with other changes that affect the Wrangler`s core values and principles that they love. In the end, we will just have to wait for the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited`s arrival to the market to know for certain.
