2017 VW Touran Review, Body and Design

The VW Touran was first released in 2003. Volkswagen combines the best features of its models, Tour, and Sharan, to develop this compact MPV. The German automobile manufacturer is now planning to develop the third generation models of this car. One of the highly anticipated models is 2017 VW Touran. This upcoming family car is expected to have a more appealing exterior and comfortable interior with enhanced fuel efficiency and performance.

2017 VW Touran – Body and Design:

The new 2017 VW Touran will be based on the VW Group MQB and VW Golf MK5 platforms. Some light materials like aluminum and steel are employed in these platforms. So, the new car is expected to be light, something which will boost speed and fuel efficiency. The automaker will make the car more pleasing to the eye by adding some sleeker features on the exterior.

In the front fascia, 2017 VW Touran will have an elongated grille, LED headlamps and redesigned air vents. The VW logo will be more pronounced in this new model. When it comes to the rear fascia, the MPV will have a well-modeled bumper and revised taillights. Other notable exterior features include redesigned side mirrors and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels. With a very spacious cabin, 2017 VW Touran will be able to fit a maximum of 7 adults. Some high-quality materials will be included in the seats. In addition to having high-quality materials, the seats will be more user-friendly. With a roomy cabin and comfortable seats, the VW MPV is expected to offer hassle-free rides to all passengers.

The new Touran will come with its fair share of advanced technological features. Dashboard will have a 7-inch HD display and a myriad of control buttons. Connectivity features include WiFi, USB, Smartphone and Google maps. Other tech features include power steering system, weather update system, climate control system, navigation system and satellite radio.

Expected safety features of the new car include seat belts, pre-crash occupant protection, traffic assist, automatic post-crash braking system, adaptive cruise control, and park assist.

2017 VW Touran – Engine and Transmission:

Four engine options will be available for the new VW MPV. One of them will be a 1.4-liter TSI, capable of producing 148 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Another option will be a 1.4 TSI DSG, with the same power and torque capacity, but better performance.

There will also be a 1.6-liter TDI, capable of producing 109 hp and 184 lb-ft. The final option will be a 2.0-liter TDI, capable of generating 148 hp and 251 lb-ft.

These engines will be connected to a 6-speed dual clutch transmission or 7-speed manual transmission. The car will get an all-wheel drive system. Fuel consumption will be up to 33 mpg in the cities and 37 mpg on the highways.

Competition:

The new Volkswagen MPV will face rivalry from Ford Grand C-Max, Mazda 5, Peugeot 5008 and Toyota Verso.

2017 VW Touran – Price and Release Date:

Starting price will be set at $23,000 to 30,000. Refurbished models of the same car will sell at higher prices. Released date is expected in late 2016 or early 2017. Most markets outside Europe will be selling the new Touran by the second half of 2017.
